This website is hosted on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, Gunzenhausen, Germany. Hetzner processes the data on our behalf and according to our instructions (Art. 28 GDPR).

Each time a page is requested, the server automatically writes a log entry with the following information:

• your IP address, shortened before it is stored
• date and time of the request
• the requested address and the status of the response
• the amount of data transferred
• the page you came from (referrer)
• your browser's identifier

We need this information to deliver the website, find errors and fend off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.

We determine how often pages are visited solely from these shortened logs. No program runs in your browser for this purpose.

The analysis only contains totals, such as visits per page and day. It does not allow conclusions about individual people. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving how our website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep the totals without a fixed time limit; the logs themselves are deleted after 14 days.

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing else on your device. It loads no content from other servers, such as videos, maps or fonts, and uses no analytics or advertising services. We therefore do not need your consent.

The connection to this website is encrypted (TLS). You can tell by the “https://” in your browser's address bar.

If you write to us using the contact form, we process the following information:

• your topic (Initiative Check or general enquiry)
• your name and email address
• your company, if you provide it
• your message
• your preferred time, if you give one
• the language and the page you are writing from
• the time of your enquiry

The form stores nothing on the web server. It sends your details as an email to our mailbox. We do not send a confirmation email. If you email us directly, we process the information contained in your email.

Our mailbox and email delivery are operated by IONOS SE, Montabaur, Germany, on our behalf and according to our instructions (Art. 28 GDPR).

We use your details only to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry is aimed at entering into a contract with us, otherwise our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your message stays in our mailbox for as long as handling your enquiry requires. If a contract results, we keep the correspondence for as long as statutory retention periods require.

Providing your details is voluntary. Without your name, email address and message, however, we cannot reply.

To prevent the form from being misused at scale, the server limits the number of requests per sender. To do this, it creates a check value (hash) from your IP address and a key that changes daily. We do not store the IP address itself for this purpose.

The check value is kept for no more than 24 hours. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the form against misuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We use neither a captcha nor cookies for this.

You have the right to

• request access to the data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
• have inaccurate data rectified (Art. 16 GDPR),
• have your data erased (Art. 17 GDPR),
• have processing restricted (Art. 18 GDPR),
• receive your data in a common, machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR).

Where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21(1) GDPR).

We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that we are not processing your data lawfully (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the supervisory authority of the German state of Lower Saxony (LfD Niedersachsen (opens in a new tab)).
