Product Concept & Feasibility
Almost anything is feasible. The question is at what cost.
Creating concept variants, evaluating them against requirements and checking whether the preferred concept can be built at target cost. The result is a selected concept with feasibility report and cost estimate.
Usual
What you often get
A feasibility study that reaches its conclusion after many pages: possible in principle. Costs get clarified later, patents not at all. Management's favourite concept wins, for lack of a real alternative.
IntoOps
What you get from us
Several concepts, rated against the same criteria and with a cost estimate that includes tooling. We calculate or test critical functions before anyone starts the detailed design. Target costs are worked out by specialists who will also handle industrialisation later on.
Service components
5 components. Where a licence is required, we coordinate.
Marked components require a licence, so they always come as part of a wider engagement. Licensed partners carry them out; we appoint them on your behalf and coordinate.
-
Developing alternative solution concepts.
-
Comparing variants against requirements, cost and risk.
-
Calculations, tests and expert review of critical functions.
-
Estimating product and tooling costs against the target price.
-
Searching existing patents; freedom-to-operate opinions by patent attorneys.
Note: IP opinions such as freedom-to-operate analyses are prepared by patent attorneys. We appoint them on your behalf and coordinate.
What you'll have at the end. Results you can check.
- Several concept variants with sketches, working principle and open questions.
- An evaluation matrix that shows why one concept wins and the others don't.
- A feasibility report with calculations, test results and named residual risks.
- An estimate of product and tooling costs, checked against the target price.
- A search of existing patents and, where needed, an opinion from a patent attorney firm.
When you need this. And how you'll know.
- You don't know if your product idea works at the target price.
- Detailed design is about to start, and there's only a single concept on the table.
- A competitor has a similar product, and you don't know if patents block yours.
- Whoever approves the budget wants solid figures on feasibility and cost first.
Rarely alone. Never bundled.
Product Concept & Feasibility often works together with these services. We'll tell you honestly when a combination makes sense, and when it doesn't.
Shows up in these initiatives.
You don't need a whole initiative to get Product Concept & Feasibility. These examples show where the service is often needed.
Good questions. Straight answers.
Do you also check whether we infringe patents?
Partly. We search existing patents and show you where things could get tight.
A reliable freedom-to-operate opinion comes from a patent attorney firm. We appoint it on your behalf, and its findings feed straight into the concept selection.
Can we get a feasibility study without new concepts?
Yes. If you already have a concept, we check its critical functions and costs.
If there are no alternatives, we'll still tell you. A study without comparison shows that something works, not whether it's the best choice.
Do you build samples to test feasibility?
Yes, if a test clarifies more than a calculation. Simple samples and functional models are made by partners in our network, managed through prototyping. Often, though, calculation and simulation are enough.
Can another team continue with the concept?
Yes. The chosen concept goes into engineering design with report, cost estimate and open points, whether that's your team or ours. We hand over so that nobody needs to call us to understand it.
Proof first. Contract second.
In the free Initiative Check, we listen for 45 minutes and ask the questions that usually only come up after the contract is signed. Then you get a short written assessment: what we see, how we would go about it and roughly what it would take.
No obligation. And if we're not the right fit, we'll tell you.
