Controlling & FP&A

Every plan deviates. Good controlling asks why.

Setting up and running the planning and reporting cycle that management uses to steer the company. The result is approved plans, regular management reports and explained variances.

Usual

What you often get

A KPI concept from consultants, a dashboard from a software house. Soon the data goes stale, and the monthly report is put together by hand again. Plenty of figures, hardly any explanations.

IntoOps

What you get from us

Instead of a concept, you get the report itself: every month, with commentary on causes and next steps. A dashboard on its own steers nothing. Where one helps, our data analytics & BI specialists build it.

Service components

5 components. Each one available on its own.

  1. Budgeting & annual planning

  2. Forecasting

  3. Management reporting

  4. Variance & performance analysis

  5. Cost accounting

What you'll have at the end. Results you can check.

  • An approved budget with documented assumptions and a named owner for each line.
  • A monthly report with fixed KPIs and commentary, always on the same date.
  • A rolling forecast, updated monthly and reconciled with the budget.
  • A variance analysis with cause, action and owner for every material variance.
  • A cost centre structure and contribution margins by product, project or customer group.

When you need this. And how you'll know.

  • You only find out from the annual accounts whether the year was a good one.
  • The monthly figures arrive so late that nobody bases decisions on them.
  • The budget is last year plus a mark-up and never gets compared with actuals.
  • You don't know which products or customer groups actually make money.
  • Your bank or advisory board wants regular reports, and management still builds them by hand.

Rarely alone. Never bundled.

Good questions. Straight answers.

Does controlling work with our tax adviser's monthly figures?

Yes, as a starting point. Those figures show the books as they are, often without a plan and without monthly accruals.

We add what's needed to steer: plan figures, comparison, commentary. We handle the coordination with your tax adviser.

Can we get an annual budget without ongoing controlling?

Yes. Annual planning is a component in its own right.

But a budget lasts longer if someone compares plan and actuals afterwards. So we agree beforehand who does that: your team or us.

Will you run the monthly reporting long term?

Yes, if you want us to. We prepare the report, comment on it and present it to management. We can just as well set it up and hand it over to your team, with instructions.

Do you act on bad numbers yourselves?

Yes. Controlling shows where things are going wrong.

We implement what needs to happen next with performance improvement. You decide how far we go.

Proof first. Contract second.

In the free Initiative Check, we listen for 45 minutes and ask the questions that usually only come up after the contract is signed. Then you get a short written assessment: what we see, how we would go about it and roughly what it would take.

No obligation. And if we're not the right fit, we'll tell you.
